Welcome

The Walnut Public Library is a non-profit organization supporting Walnut, Illinois and the surrounding areas by providing a wide array of print, audio and online resources, onsite wi-fi, public computers, children’s programs and more.

NOTICE

The Walnut Public Library is currently undergoing exterior drainage improvements as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming facility for the community. In addition to this work, we are evaluating the best path forward for reopening the children’s library during the maintenance period.

To ensure continued access to youth materials, all children’s books and resources have been moved upstairs. During this transition, staff are actively weeding, mending, and adding new spine labels to support clearer category classification. These updates will help patrons locate materials more easily and maintain the forward‑facing shelving system that was so successful this summer. New labeled book bins are also being added to support a smooth transition once the children’s library reopens.

During this period, we’re also onboarding new staff and refining several programs. Families are encouraged to keep Wednesday morning Toddler Time and the Homeschool Meet Up on the third Tuesday of each month on their calendars. We remain committed to offering high‑quality programs throughout this maintenance period.

We appreciate the community’s patience with the temporary totes of books upstairs and your ongoing support. Walnut Public Library looks forward to resuming our normal routine soon. We have the BEST patrons!
