SUMMARY:Adult Book Club
DESCRIPTION:October 24 at 7pm \nStop in to get your сору! \nI dream sometimes about a house l’ve never seen…. \nOpal is a lot of things-orphan\, high school dropout\, full-time cynic and part-time cashier-but above all\, she’s determined to find a better life for her younger brother Jasper. One that gets them out of Eden\, Kentucky\, a town remarkable for only two things: bad luck and E. \nStarling\, the reclusive nineteenth century author of The Underland\, who disappeared over a hundred years ago. \nAll she left behind were dark rumors-and her home. Everyone agrees that it’s best to ignore the uncanny mansion and its misanthropic heir\, Arthur. Almost everyone\, anyway. \nI should be scared\, but in the dream I don’t hesitate. \nOpal has been obsessed with The Underland since she was a child. \nWhen she gets the chance to step inside Starling House-and make some extra cash for her brother’s escape fund-she can’t resist. \nBut sinister forces are digging deeper into the buried secrets of Starling House\, and Arthur’s own nightmares have become far too real. As Eden itself seems to be drowning in its own ghosts\, Opal realizes that she might finally have found a reason to stick around. \nIn my dream\, l’m home. \nAnd now she’ll have to fight.

SUMMARY:Walnut Historical Society Meeting
DESCRIPTION:There is a movement in Walnut to form a Walnut Historical Society to help not only to preserve our rich history\, but to pass it on to our next generations-to make it a living history to find out who we were in the founding and establishment of our village\, who we are now and set the pace for who we will be. To instill a sense of pride and to fully embrace our heritage here in Walnut. \nThe initial step was taken on June 25th with several in attendance to scout out the desire. It was easily recognized with rousing discussion that there is interest. Much input was gathered from representatives of the Bureau County History Center\, Wyanet Historical Society and our own Village board\, representatives of various Walnut Committees\, Walnut Library and interested Walnut residents. There was also knowledge gained from the Tiskilwa Historical Society and the Manlius Historical Society \nWhat makes Walnut the town that it is? \nWhat are the stories that make us who we are? How can we preserve the stories of the people\, businesses\, churches\, school\, clubs and organizations\, and make them a usable tool to help propel us into the future? \nIf you have even a spark of interest\, please join\, support\, advise and most of all share YOUR stories with us. The next step is an organizational meeting. \nPlease share information to walnuthistoricalsociety@gmail.com \nTuesday\, September 24th at 7pm at The Walnut Library
